Making a Moment Matter: How a 90-minute Thinking Space became a full activation in a week

Unlock Innovation had a powerful opportunity.

Dyslexia Awareness Month was fast approaching, and the team wanted to show up in a way that felt authentic, useful and aligned to their mission.

They were not looking to add more noise to an awareness month. They wanted to fundamentally shift the conversation.

From dyslexia as a deficit, to dyslexic thinking as a source of creativity, innovation, problem-solving and future-fit capability.

But with a lean team of 2, limited time and a fast-moving window, they needed a clear plan they could actually run.

Flux stepped in through a pro-bono engagement as part of our commitment to supporting organisations whose work creates meaningful change, creating a short, focused sprint, starting with our Thinking Space, that quickly moved from strategy into activation.

Within a week, the work had become a communications plan, campaign structure, creative direction, visual assets and a live fireside chat.

What did Unlock Innovation need to solve?

Show up for Dyslexia Awareness Month in a more meaningful way.

Unlock Innovation wanted to turn an important awareness moment into something more practical and action-oriented, and aligned to Unlock Innovation’s mission: shift organisations from deficit framing to strength-based strategy for divergent thinkers.

  • Clarify the message and audience for October.

  • Design a light-lift actionable plan the team could actually run.

  • Turn awareness into simple next steps after the month.

More over, they needed clarity on:

  • the core message for the month

  • the audiences they needed to speak to

  • the right campaign structure

  • how to make the work doable with limited internal lift

  • how to move people from awareness into action

The challenge was how to create something that could live beyond a single moment

What was the approach that Flux took?

Fast strategy, practical activation and sleeves-rolled-up support

Flux ran a 90-minute Thinking Space session to quickly frame the opportunity, sharpen the message and map the campaign.

From there, we moved straight into execution. The campaign was shaped around a simple idea:

Dyslexic thinking is not a barrier to innovation. It is often one of the reasons innovation happens.

The communications architecture worked across two audiences.

For organisations, the message reframed dyslexia as a strategic advantage hiding inside many teams.

For individuals, the message invited dyslexic thinkers to claim their strengths, share their stories and feel empowered by the way they see the world.

Flux then helped turn the strategy into a tangible two-track campaign activity, including:

  • the communications plan

  • the campaign messaging structure

  • weekly content themes

  • social post direction

  • creative look and feel

  • campaign assets

  • panel structure

  • speaker framing

  • fireside chat facilitation

  • follow-up pathways after the event

This was strategy in motion. With only one week to launch they needed fast thinking, simple framing with low burden and real momentum.

There was no long presentation decks, no heavy processes just a focused burst of thinking, shaped into work that could be used immediately.

What was the impact?

Clarity, confidence and repeatable visible momentum

The work helped Unlock Innovation achieve:

  • A clear campaign frame for Dyslexia Awareness Month.

  • A stronger message around dyslexic thinking, innovation and workplace value.

  • A two-audience communications structure for corporates and individuals.

  • Creative assets and a campaign look and feel that made the work visible.

  • A live fireside chat that created connection, conversation and follow-on interest.

  • A practical activation model the team could reuse for future moments.

  • A clearer bridge from awareness into next steps, including follow-ups, conversations and potential pilots.

Most importantly, the work gave Unlock Innovation momentum without overwhelming the team.

It helped them show up fully in a moment that mattered.

This work was delivered pro bono as part of Flux's commitment to supporting purpose-led organisations creating meaningful change.

“Flux helped us turn a timely awareness moment into a clear campaign, creative direction and live activation. In a very short window, they gave us the thinking, structure and support to move with confidence.”
