The CEO Table: Governing for the Future

Rethinking the purpose of boards inside growing New Zealand businesses.

Most boards were built to protect the downside. Risk oversight, fiduciary duty, compliance. That work matters, and it isn't going away. But the next 24 months will also ask governance to actively support the upside — capital decisions, AI accountability, market positioning, people architecture, and the courage to move fast enough.

For scaling NZ companies, those two things now need to coexist inside the same structure. Most boards aren't built for that. Most CEOs feel it, even when they don't say it directly.

This table asks what the right model actually looks like.

What to Expect:

  • 8 CEOs, Chatham House Rules.

  • Real use cases and success stories.

  • No speakers. No vendors. Just talk.

Why it’s Important

The CEOs who moved fastest and made the strongest decisions last year had one thing in common: they weren’t doing it alone.

The CEO Table brings together the right peers—not advisors or consultants, but CEOs sharing what’s actually working in real time. It’s a space to step above the day-to-day, sharpen judgment, and focus on the decisions that actually matter over the next 12–18 months.

What to Expect

The CEO Table is invite-only to ensure relevance and peer-stage alignment, with curated cohorts of B2B CEOs at similar stages of growth and complexity.

Conversations operate under Chatham House Rules to enable candour and confidentiality. Each session produces a clear set of "what to do next" actions — distilled from conversations across New Zealand — to help leaders reduce risk and move with more confidence.

CEO Table FAQ

What is The CEO Table? The CEO Table is an invite-only quarterly peer leadership forum for B2B CEOs, run by Flux B2B across New Zealand. Each session brings together eight CEOs to discuss a single real topic — no speakers, no vendors, no pitching. Conversations are held under Chatham House Rules to enable genuine candour.

Who gets invited? B2B CEOs leading companies at similar stages of growth and complexity. We deliberately curate each cohort so conversations stay relevant and peer-stage-appropriate. It's not a general networking event.

Where does The CEO Table run? We run sessions in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, and Palmerston North. The May 2026 series covers all five cities across the month.

What topics does The CEO Table cover? Each quarter focuses on a single theme drawn from what's actually on the table for NZ CEOs. Past topics include AI adoption, sales strategy, and leadership through uncertainty. The May 2026 series focuses on people intelligence: leadership, culture, and human capability in an era of rapid change.

How is The CEO Table different from a business network or peer group? Business networks are about connections. Peer groups often have coaches or facilitators running structured programmes. The CEO Table is neither; it's a facilitated conversation between working CEOs on a real business challenge, with practical takeaways and no ongoing commitment required.

How do I get a seat? Get on the invite list by filling out the form above. Seats are limited and curated; we'll be in touch to assess fit.
